Xmas party 2013

Friday the 13th December 2013 brought nothing but luck to the cast and crew of the Alternative Cinderella.

Residents and tenants gave their best performance to family and friends at the Barn theatre, Southwick. This was then followed by super songs from Stan Watcham and Matthew Zeller, certificate presentations from Lord Lloyd, top raffle prizes won by many and ending in mulled wine and mince pies.

Healthy Living

I would like to thank Beth for coming to JMH to talk to us about healthy living. We got some good tips to help us live more healthily, like some healthy snack bars are not as healthy as we may think. It is ok to have a bit of chocolate now and then, but not all the time. A good way to start the day is with cereal, if you add some fruit it’s even better. I like to add banana.

Photography Course

In September, Emma and Joe started a photography course at Outlook House. The sessions are run by Sarah Wilmshurst, Senior Executive Finance, Administration and Health & Safety; the residents learn how to use a camera and take lots of different pictures. They are now creating scrapbooks to show off their skills.

The new Owen Defreitas block

During the summer fete in 2013 we officially opened the new Owen Defreitas block. The new building provides ample training space for the resident, tenant and staff education. The building is dedicated to Owen Defreitas, a much loved resident of the Foundation who sadly died in 2011. Owen’s parents and other family members joined the residents, tenants and staff; the building was blessed by Reverend Julie Newson before cutting ribbons to the entrance. All then gathered in the garden of Outlook House to let off yellow helium balloons in Owen’s memory; “It’s my favourite!”
